Scott Nadison has been appointed Custom Flavors President as current President Alex Wendling moves to the CEO role, while current CEO Mike Wendling retains board chairmanship.
It’s an exciting day at Custom Flavors as we announce the hiring of Scott Nadison as our new company President. A highly respected food industry executive, Scott brings extensive experience in food technology and flavors to his new role.
Scott’s hiring caps a record-breaking year of growth for Custom Flavors, which included the opening of a major new production facility in Concord, North Carolina.
“2025 was a milestone year for Custom Flavors that truly set the foundation for our next stage of growth,” said Mike Wendling, Chairman of the Board. “We expanded our footprint, capabilities, and customer base, and now we’re focused on scaling with strong leadership. Scott’s experience, skills, and perspective make him the right person to help us build on this momentum at exactly the right time.”

Introducing Scott Nadison
Scott brings broad experience across the flavor and food industry to his new position as President, having served in leadership roles at both established organizations and growing businesses. He is respected industry-wide for his deep and broad technical knowledge, market insight, and collaborative leadership style.
“Scott is a natural fit for Custom Flavors,” Alex said. “His values and vision align well with our culture and strengthens how we support customers across markets. He brings both alignment and fresh insight, which positions us well for continued growth.”
As President, Scott will serve as Custom Flavors’ commercial lead. His primary area of responsibility will be customer partnerships, which will include driving innovation and technical excellence at Custom Flavors, as well as guiding operational excellence.
Born in New Jersey, Scott grew up in the Chicago area. He got his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, before securing an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University. Before joining Custom Flavors, Scott owned and operated a consulting practice focused on providing fractional leadership in the food ingredient industries.
Scott’s past leadership experience includes President & CEO of Mother Murphy’s Labs, Vice President of Sales, North America, at International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF), and Global Key Account Director at Symrise.
Alex Wendling Moves to CEO
In his new role as CEO, Alex will be tasked with top-level corporate operations and strategy. His main area of focus will be the ongoing multi-phase expansion of Custom Flavors, through which we’ll be increasing our manufacturing strength, expanding our product development capability, and solidifying our coast-to-coast production and distribution presence.
A food scientist by training, Alex will continue to put his passion for flavor development and product formulation to work, particularly when it comes to preserving the culture of creativity that has been the hallmark of Custom Flavors since the day it was founded.
Looking forward, Alex and Scott will work closely together to ensure strong alignment, shared values, and continuity for both our team and our customers.
Mike Wending Retains Role as Chairman of the Board
Mike Wendling, meanwhile, will continue in his role of chief strategist and visionary as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Custom Flavors.
“I’ve had the privilege of watching the company I helped found grow from a local business into a nationally recognized producer and innovator,” Mike said. “Progress that has taken place in just a couple of decades. With our new facility and leadership team in place, the future holds tremendous opportunity, and I’m excited to see what comes next.”
